Privacy Policy
Effective August 8, 2026.
What Crossread stores
Crossread stores the information needed to operate accounts, comments, feed suggestions and optional alerts. Public article-view reporting uses a first-party random browser identifier that is hashed server-side; Crossread does not store an IP address, email address or account identity with that count.
Optional analytics
Google Analytics and Firebase Analytics remain off until you explicitly grant analytics consent. You can change that choice in the website consent controls or the Crossread News Android or iOS app Account screen.
Mobile notifications
Category alerts require your Android or iOS notification permission. The app sends the device token and your selected categories to Crossread only after you opt in. You can turn alerts off at any time; the device is then deactivated for future alerts.
News sources
Crossread identifies the original publisher for each imported article, links to the publisher’s canonical page and displays only material permitted by its source registry. Crossread does not copy publisher images or reproduce full publisher articles.
Account deletion
You can delete a Crossread News account in the app’s Account screen. Web and mobile sessions, device tokens and alert preferences are removed. Existing comments are anonymized as “Deleted member” so moderated discussions retain their context. See account deletion.
